Hello,
We are thinking of migrating Expedition 4D to x64.
Performance will be better, esp for Windows on ARM.
Does anyone object?

For me it is the opposite of objecting. Having both 4D and Navionics --- I'd love them to both be 64bit.

No Objection either...
In fact, it would be even better if you could switch between Navionics and 4D with a button in the ribbon like between Navonics and ENC's.

Sounds good to me.
I 2nd RVsails idea of being able to swap charting systems.

I think we will proceed and swap 4D from x86 to x64, probably after Hobart.
I don't want to have both in order to reduce proliferation as there are new build options planned for 2025.
Also, C-Map has just pushed end of life for both MAX and 4D out another year to 2026 and 2027 respectively. There can't be many people using MAX now, so hopefully that can sunset in Exp too.
The main reason for keeping it as x86 was to support Dfw IPC, but we have a solution for than now.

Not possible - neither manufacturer would like that.

I've migrated to Navionics

No objection Nick.
I'm one of your 'weird' users who runs Exp 4D on a MacBook (currently 2023 M2 Pro, but also others in the past) using a Parallels virtual environment with Windows 11. I guess the 64 bit migration will be fine for my setup?
I was interested to read 2027 EoL for 4D!

Thanks.
It is noticeably faster under emulation on Windows for ARM, which was part of the reason for this change.
I presume the same will be true for Parallels on Macs.
