Hi - we are considering switching to NMEA 2000 Wi-Fi Router YDNR-02
We are running the latest Expedition and have used Digital Yacht iKonvert and lately Digital Yacht Navlink2. The iKonvert makes Expedition crash all the time and the Navlink2 is working fine except for it random crashes and just stops sending data....
So it would be super nice if anyone has any experience with the YDNR-02 or maybe even alternatives...
best regards,
Soren

Sorry to hear that.
I am not a fan of Wifi unless absoluetly necessary. Probably the most commonly used adaptor at present is the Actisense NGX-1.
Another Wifi device is the Actisense W2K-1.

For USB I moved our most recent boat to the YDNU-02 mostly because I could get it same day and there was a SeaTalk NG version so I didn't need to deal with adapters or extra cables to connect to the RayMarine gear in the boat.
It has been very stable for me.

We will try this: Actisense W2K-1
But as we are heading for the ORC races at Mariehamn we would like to have a backup solution.
The NGX-1 seems to have either ISO or USB - and our experience with USB on our current laptop is not good - whenever it got a little push the virtual com port had a hick up and on top of that it made Expedition crash.... could this be an iKonvert issue or a general issue on my laptop... or even iKonvert < - > Expedition not a happy combination...?
Anyways - looking at the Actisense NGX-1 - do I risk the same unstable setup ....
I have tried to look for Actisense devices that would connect from n2k to using an ethernet connection - but I am not sure if it exists looking at there site

Interesting to read this, I have just sailed 800NM and had a few irritating issues with Exp occasionally shutting down / crashing. It only happened when connected to the instruments as all other 'off-yacht' work on Exp was performed without missing a beat. My instrument connection is through a Digital Yacht iKonvert device.
Please share your experience with the NGX-1 as I may go in the same direction...

I'm using an Actisense NGT-1 N2K to USB device. It works. All the time.
On my powerboat I'm testing a Yacht Devices YDWG-02. It is ok, but not a very strong signal. Might be a good back up, but you cannot beat a wired connection I think.

Yacht devices was working with Expedition 11. Now not working with V12.0.19. I can see the raw data entering Expedition using the TCP option, but data is not displaying in Expedition chart, boxes, or strip charts.Any advice?

Make sure you have selected the correct instrument type in Exp and that you have selected the PGNs you wish to use.

If you are going to get a wireless gateway, make 100% sure that your bus is running at less than 35% and that you black list as much as possible at the gateway, especially if you have a processor.
Not doing so will guarantee that you will have fast packet errors and it is not good.
All these wireless adapters do not know enough compute to handle workloads that are over 35%, I have tested all of them and none are very reliable,
In the case of Yacht Devices, I block everything that is over 10Hz, and still now and then I get errors introduced by it.
