Networking Issues » Instrument type Expedition stopped working with NMEAremote » 8/28/2025 10:18 am |
NMEA remote is working for me just fine on 15.
I don’t use 0.0.0.0
I use 192.168.1.255. (My network is 192.168.1.x)
And I use port 5010
Actually NMEA is just picking up the same stream that I use to transmit and receive from the laptop down below (in slave mode) and my Mesa 3 which runs its own EXP copy.

Try this…
Go to Hercules/ WTP
Find the WTP python sdk
In that there is a file called Gofree_defs
This is a list of all the variables with python variable name and B&G ID

Format is degrees and decimal minutes.
Eg: 40 45.5 N. Which would be 40 degrees 45 minutes 30 seconds
Another example could be
32 47.688S
134 21.256E

Have you uninstalled the old 32bit version of EXP4D ?
Try uninstalling both and reinstalling just the 64Bit version.
Technical Q&A » EXP Laylines on H5000 / Nemesis Display » 4/29/2025 6:40 am |
There is a new nemesis firmware that you can get by creating a hotspot on your phone, connect the nemesis to it and then do a software update directly on the nemesis... (actually you sometimes need to do it twice as from really old versions it has an interim update then the final one)
This has the tags in it.... and also the light theme with the white background for the numbers (much better for contrast)
Networking Issues » Laptop Port Connection Capability » 4/26/2025 1:18 am |
I do exactly that on the CF33 tablet with a USBC dongle thingy.
Exp still shows the Ethernet, and usb connections just the same. Network 0 and comm7.
Technical Q&A » Expedition Data to User Channels in B&G H5000 Display Data » 4/25/2025 10:18 am |
If you’re connected with websockets (which you should) then in the websockets settings go to the custom tab, then in the left window you can tell it which exp channel you want to send to which external channel and then give it a tag (I add exp to the end of my tags so I know it comes form exp when I see it on a display eg tgtbspEXP)
In the display you’ll find it under the user part when you add a variable to a display.
On a nemesis you’ll only see “remoteX” and not the tag unless you update the nemesis to the new firmware release last month.
Technical Q&A » Which Laptop » 4/25/2025 5:47 am |
The two im most happy with on the boats I’m on are
the CF33 tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard and trackball glued to a strip of carbon. This is on a boat with no real nav station, the tablet is mounted on to a bulkhead with dual lock, and is Ethernet connect to the instruments, has power plugged in and has USB to the ais.
The other is a traditional sort of laptop, FZ55 Mk3
I prefer the CF33 setup
Have also used a surface tablet, dell laptops
But they never last.
Have also used a Blackbox mini pc that only had Remote Desktop in and no screen. Worked when it worked. Pain in the arse when it didn’t.
