However, after lots of testing, I find the alternative that ticks all boxes and is highly performant, too, is AnyDesk.
At the same time it makes TeamViewer obsolete which has become rather annoying with ending connections in the free version.
..and AnyDesk is free, too, does not require an Internet connection, ...

Of course, mate!
RDP has one major drawback - if they haven't removed it yet: The host screen is blocked when a client accesses it. Each time you go downstairs to access the host, you need to unlock the host screen via PIN or password. Better than nothing but still not perfect.

Just a little heads up to everyone using RealVNC.
I have used RealVNC forever to remote into the Nav PC from my deck screen. We use "Direct Connections" (not via cloud) for speed, bandwidth and reliability.
Initially Direct Connections came with the lower tier subscription.
Lately you needed to purchase "Business premium". Ah well.
Now, Direct Connections will only be available on Enterprise plans. Quote from their accounts team: "The lowest device threshold on our Enterprise plans is 250 devices." The cost per device is 250 EUR.
Conclusion:
- As soon as you update your Business Premium subscription to the newer "Premium" you will loose the Direct Connection feature
- Without Direct Connection RealVNC is pretty much useless for our application
Ventus Navigation » Hold wind / current » 2/02/2025 10:23 pm |
Hi,
is it possible to hold wind / current via Ventus Pro?
If not, is it technically possible to integrate this feature?
Ventus Navigation » Create W/L course » 2/02/2025 10:21 pm |
Hi,
raising this feature request: Setup w/l course on Ventus Pro.
It would be an amazing feature if Ventus Pro would allow to create a w/l course just like in Expedition.
I assume it should be too hard:
- Enter S to WW
- Enter S to Gate
- Enter Course axis
- Gate width should be stored from last w/l course
- Same with gate position
- Same with number of legs

I just installed Version 18.1.1 (53328) and let it automatically update Parallels Tools on the VM and the charts are back to normal for me! :-) Thanks for your work on this @voodoomatz
Noice! I can confirm, it works.
The release notes are listing a OpenGL v3.3 related fix. Probably what did it for Expedition / C-Maps Manager as well.
To summarise for others...
Parallels v17.1.5 (51577) w/ Tools v17.1.5 (51577) - works
Parallels v18.0.3 (53079) w/ Tools v17.1.5 (51577) - works
Parallels v18.0.3 (53079) w/ Tools v18.0.3 (53079) - DOES NOT work
Parallels v18.1.0 (53311) w/ Tools v17.1.5 (51577) - works
Parallels v18.1.0 (53311) w/ Tools v18.1.0 (53311) - DOES NOT work
Parallels v18.1.1 (53328) w/ Tools v17.1.5 (51577) - works
Parallels v18.1.1 (53328) w/ Tools v18.1.1 (53328) - WORKS
Thanks everyone!

..as some were asking, yes, I'll keep you all updated here regarding the troubleshooting with Parallels.
So far I managed to push through level 1 support and the issue has now been escalated to level 2.

Suggestions for new features and capabilities » Add "Rotate" and "Pitch" to Chart pane » 12/11/2022 6:23 am |

Works amazing!!
Two minor details I noticed while testing:
1) With right-click+down you can change the pitch to a minimum of 11. Using C-Map/Adv you can go as low as 10.
2) With right-click+up you can change the pitch to a maximum of 90. Using C-Map/Adv you can only go as high as 80.
Neither affects usability nor the feature itself. Just thought I mention it.
Thanks heaps!
