Hi, I am also looking at tablets and interested in what others are currently using & liking. I am considering a Samsung Active Pro, anyone tried it?
For reference I do a variety of different things on boats like nav but also running around on coach boats for dinghies and working with RC, etc. So running Exp is one thing I'd like it to do, but it won't live on the deck of a boat.

- What is needed to run Exp on an Android tablet? A certain app, or will it run natively? I have only ever run Exp on a Windows PC.
Thanks in advance!

Splashtop or Remote Desktop (RD) Android app works well.
For RD you need a "professional" Windows version.
If if you have a Windows Home Edition you could use "RDP Wrap tool".
You can find instructions on RDP wrap on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb6Jj6KFXNo

Has anyone ever encountered an authorization error when trying to download Great Circle GRIBs?  I have an active HiRes subscription with Squid-Sailing.  The account is active and have triple checked my login details.  I can go to Squid X and download GRIBs, just not into Expedition.  Hmmm.

Yes, I have the same problem...

I used to use the "Calculation" function in the instrument menu.
In the NMEA 0183 AIS (wich I use) settings menu there used to be a "calculations" option in older versions.
Now it seems that only a "calibrations" option is available.

Would be great if the "calculations" option could be restored.
Thanks

That too.... But do you mean that you use the GNX display as a "portible" device (installing it on the different boats you are on?) Or is it just a matter of plugging it into the NMEA 2000 backbone? That would indeed be an "easy" solution...

Thanks, That is useful.
Although not the solution for boats that don't have Garmin displays on board.
I think receiving certain Expedition data on a (Garmin) watch can be so useful, but there seems no easy way to establish this, so it seems

I have just got a Quatix 6 and so far I really like it. It’s got a number of features that the 5 did not have. These include heart rate reading while swimming, the chart feature, and an 02 oxygen sats feature.
You can get all the expedition data Onto the watch using  an actisense USB converter and some Garmin displays which have the ANT protocol. This is similar to what some of the TP52’s do.

Hi, I would love to receive the Expedition data on a Garmin watch, but strggeling how to get this done.
You mention "an actisense USB converter" and "some Garmin displays which have the ANT protocol".

What kind of converer do you use and what Garmin displays do you mean?

Happy to hear tips on this .

Thanks

With regards to mitchell, I had the same issue. It seems like the visit my harbour charts activation on the computer, modifies the encoding of the xml files and that creates the issue with saving/expedition deleting Race Notes.
At least that is what I found, I haven't had the issue when not activating/loading the VMH charts.

Yes, that is it. I found.
When VMH charts are activated it it not possible to save or load Race Notes.

Thanks,

Mitch

I have difficulties with saving race notes.
After creatiing and saving (saving as a new file) the race note and exiting Expedition, after the restart of Expedition, the Race note is lost and cannot be found in the Expedition folder any more.
Does anyone have the same problem?
