Newbie question.  I was asked this today and I did not know the answer.

is the effect of current on apparent wind accounted for.
i.e  crossing Gulfstream with 6 kts of easterly current.
Wind is 6 kts from the West.
Apparent wind would essentially be 0

Is this effect accounted for when generating optimized routes?
