Display expedition data on B&G HV 20/20 via h5000
hello everyone,
I need a little help here as I am spinning my wheels on the topic…
We have expedition on a PC connected to the H5000 websocket. The H5000 can display its own data to HV 20/20 at the mast.
How can I display data from expedition to the HV 20/20?
I went into the websocket settings and set some output channels to send to the H5000, then tried to display them on the HVs using the B&G config website. I made multiple attempts using different channels to display but nothing worked.
I am tempted to throw everything overboard, but before I do that, I thought I would take a deep breath and ask for help first!

That should be ok. It isn't supported on the Hydra level processors.
You are looking at the Remote functions in the External menu on the B&G displays?

I did and couldnt find any variable to display that would come from expedition.
I am not at the boat right now but I’ll double check on sunday and will let you know.

The B&G displays may not show the external menu until they start receiving data.

happy to report that I think the issue was coming from the H5000 CPU that had not been updated in a long time.
I did that, then created the external variables in the H5000 websocket settings along with their tags, then sent the tags to H5000 with no problems. From there, it was easy to display them on the HV20/20.

If you want to send data from Expedition that isn't available on the H5000 system, you will need to add the USB Actisense. This will send Expedition data to the N2K network that can be seen on the displays.

You can send data to the B&G external/remote channels over the websocket.
You can't send custom data to B&G displays with the NGT-1 (or iKonvert etc).
The reverse applies for (eg) Garmin GNX displays on the network.
