Not quite sure what Im doing wrong here - Hoping someone can see the light!
H2000 system with a performance processor and B&G autopilot. I can see rudder angle on the FFD but its missing from the output to Exp (connected via RS232).
I'm hoping the problem is an incorrect value in the H2000 config file but having tried a few combinations I haven't cracked it. I'm starting to think I might have the wrong node ID, but I'm not sure how to work out the correct one if that is the case.
I have a similar issue in trying to extract MWA and MWS for calibration - I have seen these values appear sporadically for 20-30seconds at a time and then nothing.
Changing other values in the config file (such as commenting out BSP) has the expected effect.
Anyone have any idea whats going on? I had thought it might be a B&G firmware issue but ive now replicated the same problem on 3 different boats so Im assuming its my problem! In all cases the B&G output settings have been the default (I think 6.2 from memory - 9600 Baud?)

What is the Rudder sender connected to?
If to a Pilot ACP then maybe you need node 18. If to a linear port on the CPU then node 5.

I would need to check but given that information I would suspect it is through the pilot - I will give that a try next time im on the boat, thanks Campbell.
Is there a complete list somewhere of the node IDs? I have some of them (for example for the various heading inputs) from the manuals but I wasnt able to find anything for the rudder and Google has failed me.
Any suggestions for the related issue with MWS and MWA? Again I have both up on the FFD but not in Exp. The kicker here is I have occasionally recorded input, but its occasional and intermittent. The symptoms almost feel like a wiring fault but I cant see how that could be possible when the calculated wind numbers are fine.

Be interested to hear if changing node for rudder helps.
Unsure on raw wind I'm afraid - if you check raw data, is it coming in? Are the values in the number boxes '0' or '-'...?

Will let you know on the rudder when I'm next in the marina, probably sometime early next week.
Number box values are "--" whenever there is no data, and there is no value recorded in the log.
I've attached a screenshot from the shakedown sail log last weekend which shows the issue - Interestingly for that day MWS seems ok throughout, and MWA seems fine on Stb tack but nothing on Port.
I had noticed this trend before but hadn't thought too much into it. Is it possible Exp is discarding negative MWA numbers?

Campbell - Thankyou for the node suggestion, thats done the trick and I now have rudder output.
Still no luck with MWA though - I would like to start experimenting with calibrating wind angles inside Exp and presumably this requires MWA to work since if we use AWA from the B&G then the numbers are already under the influence of the calibration in the processor due to the way those numbers are back calculated from TWA.
Any suggestions from anyone out there? It seems as though all negative MWA values are being dropped before they make it to Exp.

Unfortunately, MWA and MWS are historically not usable over HLink. I suspect this is the first time I have seen anyone get them.
It doesn't matter to use awa & aws as you are just applying corrections to these

Thanks Nick - Glad to hear its not just me although a little confused at how i've gotten anything at all in that case! I will have a look at the raw output when I get a chance next and I will let you know if anything interesting turns up.
Should I assume from that then If I have TWA (for example) calibrated in the processor and also want to calculate and calibrate TWA in Exp, I would expect my Exp calibration table to be all zeros?
Further refinements could then be added to the Exp calibration table as needed and when it comes time to update the processor I would then add the Exp value to the corresponding B&G value, and reset the Exp table back to zero?

With a H2000, you don't need to do any calibration in Exp. I would do it all in the H2

Thanks Nick - It wasn't really an issue of requirement, more an experiment in improving workflow. Quite a few of the boats I find myself on have old H2000 gear and being able to calibrate on deck and transfer to the B&G later is an appealing option compared to sitting hunched over an FFD. I've never had any luck with passing calibration values to the B&G directly from Exp with those systems as it just seems to end up scrambling the whole table.
