Avoiding Land

When calculating an optimised route, the module often fails to route the yacht around land.

What am I doing wrong?

What should the settings be to avoid this issue?

Should say using c-map charts.

Thanks

Re: Avoiding Land

Look at Race Notes feature. It allows you to set keep out zones. .

Re: Avoiding Land

I sometimes use Race Notes for really obvious areas to avoid (shoals and the like), but where a coastal corner is on the track, add a "Mark" (waypoint actually), even if it isn't a mark of the course.  Remember to specify a side to pass the waypoint, not Sail To.
If you routings in prevailing conditions take you offshore, delete the "mark" from your course.  Otherwise you may confuse steerers with erroneous target headings inshore of your real track during the race.

Re: Avoiding Land

Mostly I use the avoid vector land routing option.

Use the race notes etc if you need extras.

It is probably best to not use the avoid c-map land option.
