Yacht Devices WiFi + Raymarine Axiom: No GPS NMEA0183 & Crashing

New Expedition user with a complete Raymarine Axiom Pro instrument system with a Yacht Devices NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway. I've updated software and firmware on all devices (Raymarine, YD & Expedition) to latest releases.

Expedition is easy to connect via the YD using TCP and NMEA0183, however it doesn't pickup GPS location data. I tried using TCP & UDP and multiple port settings without success. The only way I could reliably get location data to pass to Expedition was using RAW.

Using RAW worked well, however it seemed to cause instability in Expedition with frequent crashing when I'd try to plot courses, pan/zoom charts, etc. Should be noted I'm using ENC/RNC charts.

Any ideas to help the system become more stable?

Re: Yacht Devices WiFi + Raymarine Axiom: No GPS NMEA0183 & Crashing

Have you told Expedition to use that port for GPS? It has a pge in the instruments interface where you select only one GPS source.

The normal solution for any crash type issues is to run the Expedition System Restore app.

Re: Yacht Devices WiFi + Raymarine Axiom: No GPS NMEA0183 & Crashing

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I did make sure to specify "Network 0" (I believe that's the designation) in the GPS tab of the instruments interface.

With that setting it worked with the RAW format but not NMEA. Then again, the RAW format seemed to create lots of instability. Perhaps the NMEA format would create the instability as well, I just don't know since I wasn't able to get GPS to transfer through.

I'll give the system restore tool a try and then try everything again.

Feel free to email directly, it may be easier.

You can use the Raw data window in the Expedition interface to see what is being received. This may help with the GPS question. With NMEA, there are options to deselect the various sentences, but most are selected by default.
