I was given a set of analogue displays that are H3000 with the Yellow fastnet connectors.
I think that they used to work off the N2k from H5000/Zeus. but stopped with the Nov '18 software update.
Currently have H5000 wired to Zeus by N2k then ethernet to WiFi to EXP, can reconnect H5000 to ethernet as well.
Any reasonable path to getting them working (I think that would require sending the fastnet sentences?)
Can I configure EXP to output Fastnet as well as N2k, (multiple software ports? )
and send over wifi--> ethernet-> Zeus-> NMEA2k--> H3000 gauge or will the Zeus strip out Fastnet ?
Do I Need a separate physical wifi--> N2k bridge that can be plugged into the H3000 ?

H3000 itself doesn't support NMEA 2000 and Exp doesn't send Fastnet.

H3000 also works with NMEA 0183. You could use an Actisense or similar device, to tie the displays into your N2k.
H3000 can be problematic with external data, though. We have had trouble with our one H3000 GFD freezing while displaying info from the chartplotter and Expedition. The rest of the system is H2000, which works fine.
I was told by our B&G vendor that H3000 never received an update to handle external data, as support was dropped in favor of H5000.

I have NMEA 0183 available, are you suggesting I could run it over the fastnet/simnet wiring to the analogue displays ?
I thought I would need an H3000 NMEA FFD, which are pretty hard to find at this point
Tinley seems like it might be a solution.

The problem is you need something that can send it Fastnet. Really, you might be best finding someone that wants the displays.

Sorry, I misread "Analogue" as something like 10/10's or 20/20's.
Nick is correct, you would need to connect 0183->FFD->Analogue Display. Now that I think about it, this would be true for 20/20's as well.
Ebay can occassionally be a good source for older B&G items.

May I hijack this as I have a similar question.
My goal is to have a mast display for targets and polar speeds for everyone visible, with the easiest and cheapest solution. Can I do it with just a 20/20, or an FFD and a 20/20 and no processor?
I noticed B&G 20/20 displays (the perfect for me) are available cheap on eBay. They have a Fastnet in, and apparently thats not something Exp is outputting.
In the help, it says the Dfw2Exp also has functionality to send data to the displays. May I ask what format and where this feed goes to?
I know some FFDs have NMEA in, and I'd be happy to buy an FFD and a screen, but
I looked at the 'raw feed' on a friends expedition when selecting B&G H2000 and it doesnt look like NMEA. Also the manual says communiation is 115.200 baud, which is definietly something else. Can I sed Bsp% on nmea to an FFD and will that go over to the 20/20 if there is no processor in the chain?

For the H3K analogues question: Tinley are great, but last time I asked they didn't plan to build a n2k to fastnet gateway. B&G's H5000 Fastnet interface only works the other way delivering fastnet data onto the N2K bus (irritatingly the only bidirectional feature is the backlighting). Sailmon or the Tinley A&T processor are the only devices I know that will bridge fastnet and N2k busses. That said, I seem to recall that the H3K analogues were N2K/Simnet devices not fastnet. That would explain why they did work, and suggest that the H5k update stopped the right PGNs getting on the bus. If they are N2K might you be able to put out the right PGNs from Expedition?
For the 2020 question: If you can get get hold of one (Ebay has worked for me) what you really want is a H2K performance processor. That will take some NMEA 0183 in and push it out on Fastnet, but it also allows a proprietary H-Link protocol serial connection which Expedition does support. Then you can output anything you like in the external fields and Exp will do alternating numbers and context switching (pre start, beat, run etc). I've never tried to run a perf processor without a main processor but it might well work. Don't forget the terminating resistors at the ends of the bus. The H2K manual is on Tinley's website and is very comprehensive, including all the details of the H-Link protocol.

You probably need at least an H3000 or H2000 performance processor to use the 20/20s.
Dfw2Exp talks to B&G Deckman and thence to Wtp.
The easy solution for a single mast display situation like this is a Garmin GNX120.

Thank you. There are no custom channels for the GNX, am I correct? I looked thru the manual, and Nexus is listed, but Garmin isnt, so I suppose its NMEA2000 standard messages, right? I found the list of N2k it can decode, but some I want are missing: distance to layline and start counter. I also found 'distance to start line' and 'custom PC data' on the GNX manual, but not sure if Exp can send these..?
