Expedition for Android Wear2.0

Hi All

I have created an app for android wear 2.0 which is able to view and control expedition.
Its available on the playstore (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viralandroid.expeditionwear&hl=en), please give it a go and let me know your thoughts.

Shane
This looks really good, congrats on your work!  Now I just have to get an Android Gear watch to check it out!

If there is interest on the Forum I can create a separate section just for this (Like I have for NMEARemote and Ventus)

Re: Expedition for Android Wear2.0

Nice Work Shane. I don't know much about Android Wear 2.0. A couple of questions:
I guess the connection is via Bluetooth?
Can you have one to many: ie multiple watches receiving data?
Are you able to send the udp via wifi if you have a wifi watch?

Thanks,
Will

Re: Expedition for Android Wear2.0

Hi Will

Connection is via wifi with the data being transmitted by udp so you can connect as many watches as you wish. Its a standalone app so does not require any smartphone, just connects direct to the yachts wifi. I am pretty sure wifi comes standard with any smartwatch running android wear 2.0.

Re: Expedition for Android Wear2.0

looks nice, but that watch is only IP67 - showering is probably okay, but swimming is probably not.

i'm pretty sure i would forget to take it off and ruin it.

I don't know much about androidwear watches - will your app work on any androidwear 2.0 watch?

Re: Expedition for Android Wear2.0

I've had a bit of a look around at other Android Wear 2.0 watch alternatives. I found
1. Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20    50m https://wsd.casio.com/us/en/
2. Nixon Mission 100m (10 ATM) http://www.nixon.com/au/en/smart

Not cheap but look pretty good. Any thoughts/ knowledge of these watches?

Re: Expedition for Android Wear2.0

Yip, Ticwatch only has IP67 but thats good enough for me as well as its the cheapest option I think.
The Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20  and the Nixon Mission  both have wifi and are running android wear 2.0 so will be compatible. The new balance runIQ (http://www.newbalance.com/runiq/) might be a good option as well. Not too expensive and has a higher water proofing.
Here is a list of compatible devices.
