    How can I set up a start line with no instruments other than usb gps.

    Rationale, I’m trying to set my toughpad up to be able to operate stand alone on boats with limited instruments and or no connectivity. Mirroring into the better equipped race boats, with more sophisticated instruments with PC based systems and or wifi connectivity are no problem……HaHa.

    Please somebody put me out of my misery and tell me it cannot be done.
    I have done battle with Ai for 2 days, some makes sense, some leads me down worm holes that then refer to menus that do not exist in expedition. Maybe it’s picking up things in adrena on its hunt for information.  I have been through, to name but a few, restricting nmea0183 sentence feeds into instruments, held wind in what if, held wind in start removing “app data” influence, removing any non gps based influence to data boxes, ad infinitum. 

    I cannot get GPS time to line or GPS time to burn in the start sequence, I have pinged the line, I have COG I have SOG I have substituted HDG for COG and BSP for SOG, I have a count down, With held wind TWD and TWS I can get laylines into the start box, I have a HDG (COG) line from a boat that will not show. I think there lies the problem the start sequence will not recognise or show the boat.

    I can put a mark on the start line and get GPS time to mark on that line. 

    i have probably left out some vital info I have already here but I seem to have tried everything suggested to no avail. 
    Or equally there may be something very basic I have missed and am over complicating and or overthinking. 

    No rush I’m not on that start line, yet. 

    Any ideas?

    Look at selecting 'GPS time to line' in settings.

    If you only have a GPS, this is the only option that should work.

    Hi thanks fo getting back. Tried that first and disabled all other options.
    I’ve tried removing any possible conflicting NMEA feeds in instruments. I’ve got dry good gps numbers. I’ve got a start line. I’ve got cog and sog. Held wind manually in put I can’t get gps time to line or gps distance to line. I’ve updated version even tried v12 X. Same problem maybe it can’t be done unless someone else has succeeded. I’d love to know.

    Apologies, I see now it doesn't work as Exp doesn't know where the bow is without heading.

    Hi thanks for looking into it. Not even with HDG replaced by COG in settings ?

    If it doesn’t change things and cannot be done that’s no problem, I can stop looking.

    I’ve actually learned quite a lot doggedly trying to resolve. Like I can get a lot out of GPS time to mark by placing it mid start line and Time on Port and Starboard by holding start wind and “what if” wind using route will show next leg TWA not in Numbers boxes but on Route as it calculates basic triangles. If you find or develop a time to line and time to burn @ SOG it would be cool if you have no connectivity to instruments only observed TWS and TWD. Probably massively low accuracy but helps if you have nothing. I’ll test on the water instead of being driven round Lincolnshire pinging start lines. 🤣 Must be mad. Thanks again.
