Number boxes question and Calculation options

Hello,

Trying to make sense of a few of the number box options:

for "Mark Bearing - COG", I'm getting a number like 10L or 47R rather than a COG to steer. That's telling me to aim left or right (P/S) by that many degrees, I assume? Is it possible, and/or is there a number box option that gives me COG to steer to next mark, in the same way "heading to steer" does??

Another question, in the calculation options under System, would using  "Use COG as hdg" replace my number box "heading" with COG?

Finally, in what scenarios would I want expedition to calculate TWA, TWS, and TWD? If I uncheck those, I assume the readings would come from my instruments instead? What's the pros/cons of either scenario? thanks!

Re: Number boxes question and Calculation options

Mark bearing - Cog is just the difference in those two numbers.

Use cog as heading would only be if you don't have heading. It is of limited use.

Always use your instrument values. There is a topic on calculations in the help.
