Downwind laylines

My upwind laylines pretty much countdown nicely and are fairly stable.

But my downwind laylines pretty much tend to swing about  so much it’s hard to know when you’ve definitely reached the gybe points. I have TWD damped .

Anyone else get this?

Re: Downwind laylines

Definitely damp TWS.

Or look at your strip chart data of relevant vars (TWS, TWA, Target angle/speed) to review what is looking 'noisy'.

Re: Downwind laylines

I wonder if current set/drift could be a factor...

Current set and drift is derived from BSP/SOG and Cse/COG difference and have an impact on laylines as well. If one of these channels go haywire, I think the laylines do as well...

You could try setting your instrument system to use SOG as BSP and COG as Cse and see what happens.
