Stripchart has memory leak

Hi, I use version 12.3.12 of Expedition MAX and have also seen the same problem in all 12.x versions.
Right clicking in Stripchart gets slow and when Stripchart has been open for some hours it complains on "Out of memory".

Re: Stripchart has memory leak

I agree and find in my own experience after 6-7hrs that the memory error occurs. I like to leave the Stripchart application open in the background to be able to perform analysis. I am running 12.4.5

Re: Stripchart has memory leak

I haven't heard of that before, but will do some soak testing.

Stripchart will obviously use more memory over time as it adds more data, so it could be that.

You can also reduce the frequency to (eg) 1/2Hz

Re: Stripchart has memory leak

Hi Nick,

I have also had problems with recent crashes on a Dell Rugged Tablet. Usually the screen freezes or goes black, but expedition continues running in the background.

The Windows (11) event log shows several warnings near time of crashes for “resource exhaustion” due to “low memory condition”, listing Expedition and Windows Defender as the culprits.

This problem is new for me since running Windows updates and installing 12.4.6 just last week. I was just able to run Support Assist to update Bios, defender, and more. Hopefully this will help.

Re: Stripchart has memory leak

Have you looked at the memory?

Which Expedition are you using?

I am on the Navionics version.

I can get memory data while connected to instruments in the next couple of days.

Here is the event report from the most recent crash:

Re: Stripchart has memory leak

Not sure if related but Exp 12.4.6 Navionics has started crashing for me and I am noting memory usage gradually increase over ~ 12 hours until application exits.  I am running stripchart disabled and issue still occurring.
Win 11 32GB ram
Am going to test another device/install to see if issue occurs.

Will do a soak test with Navionics just now, so far nothing seen though.

It may be worth using the Exp system restore app. Note that you can save settings from the menu at the top left of Exp.

Navionics AU/NZ.  Also switched to AUSENC no change
I just upgraded from 12.4.3 on my Getac v110 with 16GB ram, I ran for last hour and memory use was a constant low 700MB.
I updated that one to 12.4.6 and straight away the memory is climbing, last 15 mins gone 700MB to 1000MB and climbing. (in 5 mins of writing this, is now 1350MB )
I have just run a system restore of all 4 registry settings only, and after restart, memory is back on the climb.

UPDATE - redid the restore again and seems to have slowed the creep substantially.  Seems save cofig doesn`t keep the connection settings as they are all defaulted now, even after loading config back.
UPDATE 2 - I have reconfigured basic instrument settings and AISstream to test.  Memory use is growing but at a lot lesser rate than earlier so will see how long runs for.
