Hi All,
I have just finished installing a B&G Triton Edge processor. It connects nicely to Exp via Websocket, with reliable data flows and no real issues experienced to date. I am also trying to bring in AIS data. I have a B&G VHF100-B radio with integral AIS that drops the data onto the N2K system. I know Edge won't bring this AIS data into Exp via Websocket, so I am using a DY iKonvert that I have been using for several years for N2K (before the Edge) & AIS.
Over these years I have suffered many crashes / restarts of Exp - but only when I am connected to instruments / AIS via the iKonvert. I haven't had any issues with Exp during planning / prep works - remote from the instruments.
I hoped this issue would be solved by the Edge. Unfortunately, I am still seeing the same behaviour, but now only when I am using the iKonvert for AIS data. Using the Websocket connection to the Edge = no crashes / restarts / issues. I've also always had issues getting the iKonvert to boot up properly and to establish a connection, so I have viewed it with some suspicion for some time!
I am thinking of switching to Actisense to see if this is more reliable or compatible. Given the system above - should I be looking at the USB NGT-1 or the NGX-1 to bring the AIS data over? I think NGT-1 but maybe I'm missing something?
Also - does anyone see any issues with the system or any other hints for improvements I should be making?
Thanks in advance!!

The NGX is a newer product. Apart from that, they seem to function similarly.
The Digital Yacht device should be ok. I haven't had any issues with them.

I have been using the NGT-1 with no issues.
Nick is the any way to access the configuration menu for the NGT-1 when it is not pluged into the Network?
I would like to view it when I have the laptop at home.

Do you mean in Exp? If so, the virtual serial port only exists when the NGT/NGX is connected.

Thanks @Nick, @Black Dog,
I'll go for the NGX and see if that addresses the issues
