I’ve looked at the UI for the Boat tracking feature in V12 and have a question on functionality that we never got working in V11.
Is it possible to ”connect” and feed incoming AIS-data (from n2k) to to the Tracking functionality? What I saw in the V12 UI was that Boat Tracking show columns for ”5 min SOG/COG”, ”10 min SOG/COG” etc. which would be really valuable information if that data was able to feed from the AIS-data. This would be for specific boats that would be pre-mapped from AIS to Boat Tracking.
(Sidenote: In V11 nothing appear happens when we right-click a AIS-target and select ”map to Boat Tracking” or simliar option).
Follow-up question if the answer to above is ”yes” is how are those 5/10min averages calculated.
(All above are UI elements from memory, I am not in front of either V11 och V12 currently)

The easiest way to map AIS targets to boats is to right-lcik on them.
You can also do it by MMSI number.
Also see the Exp help.

I (finally!) got this tracking working in V11.
I've previously tried the "map AIS target to boat"-option several times but never really found where and how I then could view the mapped boat data.. But I have looked in the wrong place it seems. The boat does not show up in the Race Tracking UI but rather in the Boat Tracking Window.
(Sidenote as per my question on my original post: I noticed that the 1m/2m/5m/10m data (COG, SOG, VMC) are available in Boat Tracking in V11 as well. Very nice!)
It seems from my understanding that Race Tracking and Boat Tracking are two different functions/features? I did not manage to find any help info on the columns in the Boat Tracking Window but the naming only slightly differs so my question is if the data is the same in the two?
Meaning that DMG in Race Tracking is called VMC in Boat Tracking and 1m/2m/5m/10m COG and SOG are derived from successive positions for Boat Tracking as well. Is that the case?
Also. Should I be able to get the AIS data into the Race Tracing UI as well for the AIS target mapped boat?

Race Tracking / position reports is completely separate from your live data.
You could look at the help topics on Race Tracking.

For the short coastal races in the San Francisco area they don't use YB, but AIS is now mandatory. So if I want to to use the race tracking feature does it mean that I need to write some piece of SW that reads Exp log and saves the boats info to the format understood by the race tracking import, e.g. GPX?

You could, but the race tracking system is designed for position reports rather than data every few seconds so I don't know how it would be performance-wise.
