Re: Expedition 12

Do you anticipate making Predict Currents available sometime since you already have PredictWind smoothly integrated?

I'm not sure it is necessary with ROTFS/Mercator/Copernicus/TideTech available?

Re: Expedition 12

The best tidal current data for Seattle and surrounds will be the OFS data, available from the Expedition grib server.

Current Lab also has a Canadian model that covers a similar area that will be the next best.

Re: Expedition 12

Thanks for the above but at this time I am in Scotland--so my specific concern is the Scottish coastal waters.

Leave aside for the quality of data, and the value of correlating multiple models, I for one, would love to have to subscribe to one service and not have to pay yet another subscription.

So if Nick gets the time to get PredictWind's currents model it would be great

Re: Expedition 12

Nick, I've downloaded the revised world chart, expanded it and put it in c:\programdata\expedition\navioncis but when I open the workchart in v12.0.13 and check the details it refers to c:\program files (x86)\expedition\expedition4d\charts\worldcharts.chx. Can this be updated independently of a release?

Re: Expedition 12

That is the simple world chart used by Exp.

You need to swicth to Navionics mode

Re: Expedition 12

I dont know if it is a version issue but there seem to be a bug in the weather file section: It isn't possible to show or use grib giles of (especially) the Harmony Model (North Sea/ Holland reagion). I tried other models and they don't seem to have the same problem.

It is possible to download and the grib files and they are actually shown in the list of grib files, but is is then impossible to "tick" the box to make them active. Again, it specifically seems to be a problem with the Harmony model (which I use a lot....)  and not other models
The grinb files aren't corrupt or anything, the are usable in other Navigation software programs.
Thaks for your help.

Mitch

Re: Expedition 12

Thanks.

I see there is a bug in the KNMI data, at least from My Grib where it says it is a custom grib table from NOAA.

I don't know what Squid shows.

I will have to add a work-around in Exp, but the data will appear as NOAA in the model list.

Re: Expedition 12

Squid download actually works well, thank you.

But another source (https://www.euroszeilen.utwente.nl/weer/grib/) doesn't.

Must be a KNMI thing then, but the downloded grib file through Expediton (My grib) does work in Qtvlm for exemple.
