I am trying to setup the firewall rules in the Go! exec, but to no avail. I have set Expedition's Internet settings to "direct internet" and the DNS error message went away. But I am still running into a timeout. Wireshark tells me, that there are TCP packets coming back from the server - I am a bit lost here. Anyone an idea?

I was in Patagonia in 2016. It was the best cruise I ever did. West of Ushuaia all electronic charts were absolutely useless. You definitely should get the Chilean paper chart atlas:

SERVICIO HIDROGRÁFICO Y OCEANOGRÁFICO DE LA ARMADA
Atlas hidrográfico de Chile
7. Auflage, El Servicio, Valparaíso, Chile - 2009
ISBN 9789562350259

https://tiendavirtual.shoa.cl/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=18569&virtuemart_category_id=56&Itemid=645
The coordinate systems varied from chart to chart. So I had three different GPS positions on C-Map, Navionics and paper. Even the paper charts of the same atlas seemed to have different geodetic systems. But this atlas was still the best source for information. Supposedly you can only order it from the Chilean hydrographic institute, but I just saw that they offer S-57 and S-63 charts as well - Expedition should work with these as well. I hope they aligned the geodetic reference on those charts...

The new GARMIN 24d is a multi-band GPS! It can receive L1 and L5 like the ublox F9 receiver and  is therefore way more precise than its predecessors. Very cool!

Campbell,
I am usually installing the RedPort Optimizer between SATCOM and network to prevent unauthorized use of the SATCOM. Expedition can be set to use the Optimizer's user and password - it's essentially a proxy.

Peter, get the Digi Edgeport adapter. They and the Moxa are by far the most reliable ones. Usually the FTDI Adapters get a new COM Port everytime you swap the USB port - very annoying. The Digi driver checks the serial number of each adapter and assigns the old COM port number.

ZeeZee,
thanks for commenting. In my system it just does nothing. I can mark a line in the optimal result window (it gets blue). But clicking on the SET TIME button does just nothing. I wonder if that has something to do with my german windows settings. It has worked in some of the former Expedition versions, though.

In some Expedition versions the "set time" button in the routing results window does not work on my computer. It should adjust the time of the weather and hence give me the predicted position of my boat at that time. Currently with 10.9.17 it does not work. I still haven't found the reason why it works with some versions and with others not.
Does anybody else have the same problem? I am running a german Windows 10.
Thanks and best regards,
chriggel

Nick,
is Expedition actively configuring the Actisense interface? I was of the impression that by clicking on "apply" within NMEA Reader those settings are stored in the interface's hardware?

Hi, I doubt that this rellay will solve your problem. Is the Actisense connected to a Raymarine system? I had the same issue. Disabling PGN 130578 (Boat Speed Components) either in Expedition or Actisense NMEA Reader helped in my case.

I got hands on a Hemisphere OEM GPS compass board, which gives me GPS based heading even while being stationary. Using NMEA0183 I am able to use this heading in Expedition. Now I would like to compare this heading-source with my two existing compasses (NKE Regatta/H2183 and Nexus HPC). Is there any way to use more than one heading in Expedition? My first idea was to use the satellite based heading as a XDR data and use strip chart to compare. How is your experience with al these satellite compasses (Simrad H70, Hemisphere Vector)?

Second question: Did anybody succeed in getting NMEA compass heading directly out of the NKE Regatta compass, which is basically a rebranded Airmar H2183 with proprietary software?
