Chris,1. You can send an empty email to info@saildocs.com to get a lot of helpful info on their service. Also see item 4 below 2. The High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) (24 hours max forecast length)url https://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/hrrr/ Model: HRRRX Neighborhood Probability (Experimental) : (48 hours max max forecast length)PLEASE NOTE: This site is not supported 24/7 and may be subject to outages.url https://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/hrrr/hrrrtle/3. Check with Squid generally the 'hires' models are in the paid subscriptionsurl https://www.squid-sailing.com/en/#https://www.squid-sailing.com/fr/# 4. The best way to answer your question is for you to keep a spreadsheet with columns showing the time of your download for each model/source and the time of the earliest forecasts it contained. You will find it varies and will also find the best time for you to grab the data . This holds true for what ever method you use eg Saildocs, Squid, Expedition or other. A good Winter project.

Newbie,
Re: EXP the kindle books by Will Oxley are a good read.
Also there is lots of content on the web these days by groups like North U, Speed and Smarts, and Yachting World (eg Pip Hare series on double handing ).
Try different search entry combinations with some including your boat type or class.
Watch race videos such as the finish of the Rolex Sydney Hobart with the duel for line honours and figure out who did what and why.
Try used book stores for the older classics on tactics.

If this doesn't work PM me and I'll send you some lists.

BTW Technology is moving so fast, we're all newbies!
Cheers and HNY

Try to do the update again or I think you can choose 'repair'.  My home pc does that occasionally, non 4D,  I try to keep a copy of cmWin32.dll on a thumbdrive for such occasions.
Maybe Nick will ring in with a more technically astute answer.

I'll let Nick respond to the tech side of your question but would suggest you download Mercator files before you leave as the resolution is hourly v 24hrly
I'm guessing you're using RTOFS because of the availability through Saildocs
Hope I've made this suggestion before you're out of internet access!
Good luck

Could it be that the two files have conflicting data for the same date and location?
