Hey Mitchell, I have not actively been doing anymore development with the android wear app as there has not been a lot of interest and I found the wear watches battery life to be generally quite poor. But happy to sort out any bugs you have been experiencing just drop me a message with the problems or updates required.

Yip, Ticwatch only has IP67 but thats good enough for me as well as its the cheapest option I think.
The Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20 and the Nixon Mission both have wifi and are running android wear 2.0 so will be compatible. The new balance runIQ ( ) might be a good option as well. Not too expensive and has a higher water proofing.

Connection is via wifi with the data being transmitted by udp so you can connect as many watches as you wish. Its a standalone app so does not require any smartphone, just connects direct to the yachts wifi. I am pretty sure wifi comes standard with any smartwatch running android wear 2.0.
