Technical Q&A » Laylines in Exp 12 » 7/15/2024 1:13 pm

Yes I did, setup as Expedition calculations of TWS and TWD from instruments AWA and AWS.  but now that you mentioned that, I tried using the simulator and that works fine, its just when I was connected to instruments it was not working.

Technical Q&A » Laylines in Exp 12 » 7/15/2024 11:55 am

Good afternoon, running Expedition 12.0.16 x64 with navionic charts as well as Expedition 12.0.16 4D with CMAP.,  I can't seem to get the Laylines to show up on either version.  I have an active mark, an active GPS location,   wether I select all 4 layline options under display or none of them or 1 at a time, there is no change to the display.

Thanks

Thanks that works great!

You can create a batch file, that starts Expedition, waits for a second or two, and presses enter.

@if (@CodeSection == @Batch) @then
@echo off
set SendKeys=CScript //nologo //E:JScript "%~F0"
start /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\Expedition\Expedition4D" Expedition.exe
timeout 1
%SendKeys% {Enter}
@end
var WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell");
WshShell.SendKeys(WScript.Arguments(0));

I noticed in x64 we can acknowledge in perpetuity the disclaimer screen at startup, is that something that can be added to 4D also?

That was our setup back when it came out: metered connection, turn off any software with automatic updates on the PC (and there's a lot that works in the background you typically don't notice). Then we would get everything lined up regarding emails or weather we needed to get or send, and turn on the exec, get everything done as quickly as possible and turn it off.  Ultimately, we gave up on it; we ran out of data several times, having to use the iridium go to contact people on shore to set up additional data (once it was out of data there was no way to use it to get additional data), then having to monitor every bit of data was too burdensome; we went back to Iridium Go and recently upgraded to Starlink (while keeping the trusted Iridium Go working in the background for things like position reports and emails).

Best of luck with it!  (It did work very well when it had good reception, we just didn't want to keep having to monitor data usage in our case)

Thanks Bruce, I did get it to work in the end, Nick was correct I just had to leave the windows network setting as is, does not need the login details that the go needs.

Bruce have you been able to connect iridium exec to expedition? I have been playing with the network settings but so far not luck getting a connection.  Predict wind as you say works quite well.

Good to know!  will keep that in the back pocket if I encounter that issue.  I usually also try to update the firmware, it has solved my issues more then once!

Technical Q&A » Bermuda day 2 to 5 satellite images dated Jan 2021 » 5/19/2022 1:02 pm

Thanks Ernie, I do not need them today, just getting things ready for next month, so you don't get a 15 Jan 2021 image?  I cleared out my image database just to be sure and re-downloaded, always get the same.
