Running Expedition on a Mac under Parallels - Works fine

I have been doing it for two years now and no issues.  This is just a post for a FYI

You do need to install third party software so if you close the screen it won't go into sleep mode.  That is not really a problem unless you are running the strip charts.

Carry on....

Re: Running Expedition on a Mac under Parallels - Works fine

I'm about to by the Expidition software. A reseller told me to buy a PC with Windows 10 and not use my Mac with Parallels. He told me I'd get a much better result. Any thoughts?

Like I said it works fine for me.  Since you already have a mac you can give it a try.  If you don't like the results you can get a PC.

Re: Running Expedition on a Mac under Parallels - Works fine

Robalex117,

I am looking at the new fanless Macbook Retina 12"

  • 1.2GHz Dual-Core Intel Core M, Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz
  • 8GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • 512GB PCIe-based onboard flash storage
  • Intel HD Graphics 5300

As you note you have been using for a while, so I assume this spec set should prove adequate?

Any recommendations on non-sleep code&  remote waterproof keyboard/mouse?

regards,

Sheldon

I run on a MacBook Air with comparable specs. No performance issues.

Can't comment on your other questions since I don't use any sleep software or waterproof case.

Re: Running Expedition on a Mac under Parallels - Works fine

Personally, I don't like running through Parallels, as it presents one more layer that can potentially go bad. That said, I have previously run Expedition on a MBPro through Boot Camp, and had no issues.
