Sydney-Southport Celestial

All, on Sailing Anarchy is our latest contribution to Art at Sea, look for Southport 2018.  After an early unwise choice saw us deep, we got back to 4th on IRC, not bad for 2008 TP52.

Re: Sydney-Southport Celestial

Indeed, couldn't find the story either.

"we got back to 4th on IRC, not bad for 2008 TP52"
So you suggest that IRC favors the latest generation TP52's over the older generations?

Re: Sydney-Southport Celestial

TP52s are an arms race.  The newer ones (i.e. generally later than 2012/13 are lighter, stiffer and wider.  Even allowing for IRC we cannot stay with them.  Ichi Ban gives us a princely 1.7 minutes an hour ...

Re: Sydney-Southport Celestial

Maybe time to shift to ORC......  then at least a scientific approach is used to calculate the handicap ;-)

Re: Sydney-Southport Celestial

Zee, look at the article on this year's generation of TPs in Seahorse mag online .... and maybe Aus is peculiar with so many TPs racing offshore, but the size and config just seems to have a sweet spot among owners here.
