Satellite Internet Connetion
Looking to how best import the yellow brick files that are used for the race schedule function in expedition. Has anyone been able to do this via an Iridium go device or using a sat phone as a data modem. Looking at economical way to do this without installing a full satellite dome type system.
Appreciate any thoughts on how this could be achieved.

A bunch of us use UUPLUS and it's Web Fetch feature to do this and it works very well. You can either set a schedule or request the files from the Yellow Brick link page (e.g. ) as and when you want. It all happens via email and the files in question come back as an attachment.
In a windows world where every app wants to update itself whenever an Internet connection is established UUPlus is good because it is only email and you do not have to firewall the bejesus out of all your app connections.

Long version:
We struggled with web downloads on the Newport-Bermuda Race, but found email to work far better. The ability to resume an interrupted download came in handy more than a few times.
During the race, I laid out a framework for a subscription based system, that would allow you to subscribe to the position reports from YellowBrick for a fixed period of time, at a frequency you select. They would be pulled every X minutes, and delivered via email to the subscribed email addresses.
It was during a conversation with Nick (YellowBrick Nick, not Expedition Nick) that I found out SailDocs has pretty much the same service available.
I may still build the system, as there are a number of other files that would be good to have showing up on a regular basis, but it is decidedly lower priority now.
