Ensemble Routing

Should I be expecting basic .25 GFS route to match GFS Ensemble Control route ?
or is GFS Control its own permutation of basic GFS.
My GFS route takes me in a big arc, 350nm off rhumb, Annapolis to St. Lucia Leaving Nov. 30 8AM
Motoring when below 5 kts sailing speed.
19 of the ensemble routes basically follow rhumb,
2 routes split the difference.

Re: Ensemble Routing

You will find the ensemble control is slightly different from the basic GFS. It will also be lower resolution in most cases.

Re: Ensemble Routing

If you haven't already; also download the gribs for the Gulf Steam and area eddies.
Weather tab/Saildocs/RTOFS-Global  you may find some variations.
Good luck,
Ernie

Re: Ensemble Routing

For the GFS Ensemble, is there a way to view the standard deviation data for an imported grib?  I tried to look at it at a metogram and in the wind model drop down and could not see it.  In different viewer, I can see the std dev data in the same file.  Thanks.
