Expedirion to BG Hercules 2026

Hi

Sorry asking - we have tried to search and to ask AI.. no luck.
We have a new boat (xr41) with new bg hercules processor and latest version of expedition.

We are sble to send start info from expedition back to the displays etc.

But we are not able to send random expedition parameters - like target heel.

What we do
- expedition - instruments - BG websocket - BG websocket settings - custom - and then we select expedition chanbel in this case target heel from the dropdown

- then we go to the bg displays and look for this custom value, but cannot find it .cannot find custom at all.

Anybody to help us out

Custom variables being sent from Expedition to B&G should be under the User menu.

Re: Expedirion to BG Hercules 2026

Thank you, Campbell. 🥰
We tried and tried, and after quite some attempts, the «user» menu appeared in the list on the displays. We are not sure what we did to make it appear. But now it is there, all good and we are good..

We sent and refreshed tags, we ticked broadcast received data on and off, we restarted the one and the other… and nothing happened, so when the users appeared, it was a bit random… desperation/frustration takes the systematic approach away

Expect more questions to come with this new set-up.. i have some pretty strange logfiles wrt BS for example, but i will look more into that tomorrow before i ask

Re: Expedirion to BG Hercules 2026

It used to be that the User menu wasn't available until you were sending data.

I am not sure if that is still the case ...

Re: Expedirion to BG Hercules 2026

That is still the case.

For example if you want to send distance to the start line to a nemesis display you need to activate a start sequence before it will show up in the custom list.

Once you add it to the display it will stay there (and will display - -  when no data is coming in)

Re: Expedirion to BG Hercules 2026

=13pxSame symptom as thread 2778 — no User menu on the Nemesis at all, so no EM custom channels available. =13pxHercules processor, Nemesis displays, Expedition 12.8.19 over the B&G websocket. Custom 0 = BSP and Custom 1 = Target heel, both named, damped, boat 0. Refresh tags and Send alternating tag ticked, Send tags clicked many times. =13pxThe websocket is definitely up — EM receives instrument data from the Hercules over it. Native Hercules channels display on the Nemesis fine. Also tried Reset config mappings and restarting both Expedition and the displays. =13pxStill no User category in the data picker — not empty, absent. =13pxDid anyone ever pin down the actual fix in 2778? And where does "broadcast received data" live — I can't find it in Expedition, so I assume it's B&G-side?
