Chart support

Is Expedition only going to support Navionics in the future? What is going to happen with Cmap?

Re: Chart support

BUMP

Also curious as to the long term direction of chart support in Expedition...just want to be sure I'm investing my $ and time in the future standard now.

Re: Chart support

Only Future Proofed system is official ENC.
All others are dependent on licensing agreements / private companies. And are not official anyway.
The new S-100 standard that is in development looks pretty good.
but for now S57/63's (easiest through Chartworld) are the best official way to go at the moment.

Re: Chart support

Expedition will support ENCs, RNCs, Navionics and C-Map X for the forseeable future.

RNCs are rare now though.

The last C-Map 4D chart update will be early next year and Expedition will cease support some time after that.

Expedition dropped support for C-Map MAX charting at the beginning of the year. Maintaining 32 bit compatibility had become too limiting.

I haven't looked at S-100/101 in any detail yet, but it has to be an improvement. The S-57/63 data format is terrible and looks as if it was designed by a government committee that lacked any computer skills.
