BSP and Set / Drift in Optimal Routing Results

Hi Nick --

Could you please clarify how Set / Drift impacts Boatspeed in the Optimal Routing output?  It would seem from my experience that the BSP column in the output is simply showing speed through the water independent of current.  Is that correct?   In that case, is there any way to show calculated SOG in the routing output?

Also, if we have indicated that we want to "motor at 6 kts if we're not sailing at 4 kts" am I correct in assuming that these are both based on speed through the water and not SOG?

Thank you!

Adam

Re: BSP and Set / Drift in Optimal Routing Results

The current affects the forecast wind as it is ground referenced.

You could just divide the distance by the time as a first approximation.

Yes, they are boat speed.

That's helpful.  Thanks for the quick reply!
