    Intermittent No Position Fix

    I am setting up the computer running Expedition on a boat,
    connecting to Ockam instruments, an AIS and a Standard Horizon VHF with an internal GPS.

    i see an intermittent "no position fix" message, even though i see what looks like valid sentences in the
    raw data window from both the VHF and AIS.

    what am i missing?

    Nick:

    v10.3.6 running on a toughbook with windows 10.

    i experimented today at home with the laptop and a garmin handheld GPS with a belkin usb to serial converter.
    i had the same problem, but i was able to correct it by unchecking the "validate checksum" box in the instrument connection window.

    could that be the only issue?

    Try updating Exp - I recently made a change for some serial devices that may help.
