Long Island / Block Island / Rhode Island Sound currents

Hi,

Is anybody aware of whether current information corresponding to the tides at key places like The Race, Plum Gut, Block Island, etc. can be fed into Expedition in a way that adjusts optimal course routing accordingly?

Thanks!

Josh

Yes, either from grib data (eg Tidetech) or the built in models. See the Tides topic in the Expedition help.

Thanks, Nick.  I was just emailing back and forth with a fellow Long Island Sound sailor (and Expedition power user).  I've enabled the tide data built into Expedition to be overlayed on my charts.  See linked image.  When I download a wind grib, does optimal route functionality take into account the tide information (in addition to the wind grib)?

Josh,
Yes they do, if you look at the optimal tab / results /  summary you will see the columns for set and drift it found at the place and time you were there.

As always, thanks Ernie!  (FYI, the aforementioned Expedition "power user").

There is a 'Use tidal streams' option to turn it on or off.
