Understanding local weather

Hi everyone,
I'm a young novice navigator in the UK looking to get a much better understand local weather systems when out on the racecourse and I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me towards any books or webinars that would help. This isn't necessarily weather systems in the UK and surrounding waters, but more about what you can see with your eyes and how this can influence the weather around you.

Since this place seems to a bit of a treasure trove of navigational knowledge I was hoping I'd be able to find some help!

Thanks

Ewan

Re: Understanding local weather

Second vote for Isler and Chris Bedford's Marine Weather University - The whole program is excellent (so far - it's still being developed). It's not inexpensive, but it's worth it - the best marine weather info on the web I think. Chris (who does most of the teaching) is an excellent educator and forecaster.

There is a free module if you want to get a taste of it.

They just released (last day or two) a module on local and regional weather.
