Damping not effective?

Hi
Whatever I do, I can’t set damping on my variables. The settings seem to have no effect.
I have nmea0183 data coming in over the network, and nmea2k goes to my mast instruments. I have gone into settings, variables, and put 3-5s damping on TWA and Pol%. It still changes every sec on the mast display. What am I missing?

Re: Damping not effective?

The damping in the Channels settings sets the damped vars in Exp. You can display both damped and undamped vars.

Any more details? Are you sending NMEA 2000 data to Garmin displays? If so, you need to select the damp option in the NMEA 2000 interface.

Re: Damping not effective?

Yes, N2k to Garmin. Send damped is checked. I also found a checkbox next to Alternate (I send almost only alternate data, so they show start info before the gun).  Still, the numbers on the mast display change every second. Is there anything else?

Re: Damping not effective?

Yes, that is how you damp the data sent to the display.

The numbers will change at the same speed, just the changes are damped.

I am not sure what the "checkbox next to alternate" is, but it doesn't matter.
