Have you managed to get SailRacer software working with Expedition?  I downloaded it over the weekend and tried to use it in a race on Saturday.  But I couldn't get any data from Expedition to the software running on an iPad.  I think the software itself has some good potential and is a little more polished (in some ways) than Ventus or NMEARemote.  But it counts for nothing if I cant feed it data.  They don't seem to have implemented the Expedition API so we are limited to using an NMEA 0183 forward.  I tried a number of configs but I couldn't see anything.  Have you or anyone else had any success?  Please share your config details if you can.

And yes, this simple eInk device would be great if it is more visible in sunlight.  I currently use VNC to mirror Expedition to my navigators iPad and to the helmsmans station.  It works well for me but is too much for the skipper.  A simpler view with customizable fields will work better.  I've previously used NMEARemote but it is not being developed fast enough for my needs.

Putting on my security hat just for a minute here (I work for a large Security Software company).

You really should allow Windows to do its updates, especially at the moment.  They have what they term Patch Tuesday, a once a month event during which they push out multiple updates addressing security issues.  But they will also push out critical updates in between if deemed urgent.

Earlier this year there was a chip level flaw identified by Intel and other chip manufacturers that could allow a hacker to compromise almost any system.  Microsoft came out with a fix that they thought addressed the issue but it didnt work, so they have been adding incremental updates regularly since.  This might explain the frequency you are seeing.

I know its a pain but it doesn't take very long for an operating system to get critically out of date and increasingly vulnerable to hackers and malware.  Even if your Expedition PC doesn't spend much time connected to the internet, it can still be attacked within minutes of any connection.

Hope that helps.

I think you mean the license key?  10.5 required all new license keys.  Old licenses will not work.  You can request new keys from your local dealer or from Nick directly.

And I would junk your Windows Vista system.  Vista was always a troublesome OS and is no longer supported by Microsoft or anyone really.  Upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 10.  Expedition no longer runs on Vista.

Ted, Welcome to the forum.

Expedition software is practical for use anywhere there is water!  It is used by mariners around the world and will be effective in Japan also.  CMAP charts are available for Japan but you may also find ENC or RNC charts that provide greater resolutions.  Also, weather services like Predictwind and Theyr provide detailed weather info for Japan.
There is no reseller of the software in Japan but you could maybe reach out to the resellers in HongKong or Korea who will likely be familiar with your market.  Or for more info see the Expedition Marine Resellers page.

From your Instruments page, select the interface that communicates with your instruments.  Click on Expediton Settings and under Custom you will see a display of outputs which you can map to values in Expedition.

Then on your H5000 you should be able to display External/Remote values, these channels map onto the Expedition output channels.  I do it on a H2000 so I'm more familiar with the specifics there, but the H5000 should be even easier with its web configuration interface.

Lol, fixed it!!!

Race Notes was unchecked in my Display settings.  I was creating invisible Race Notes!!

Maybe consider popping a dialog if someone attempts to create a race note but settings indicate dont display.  :-)

Is anyone else having problems with Race Notes in the latest release?  I try to create a new race note and can't seem to get any points entered.  I select New Race Note, get the appropriate cursor, but when I click I get no response like it's not receiving the coordinates.  I end up with a Notes entry but it is essentially blank.

I hadn't seen this issue before, so maybe introduced in the latest version ?
