In case anyone stumbles across this thread, I did eventually fix the problem by trying a lot of things including repairing my .NET Framework installation and sfc / scannow in Command Prompt. I couldn't honestly tell you which one did the trick but it seems to be stable now. Thanks to all those that commented on this thread.

I am still trying to fix this problem. I have set all permissions to allow Exp to write to the 'States' folder but I cannot get any number boxes to save.
Two things seem curious - firstly the 'States' folder is completely empty - no files, not even 'default'. Secondly, the software appears to remember other features of each display state, eg the specific windows open and their arrangement, just not number boxes.

Thanks Nick, I will recheck that Exp has permission to write to that folder. Is it normal though that the States folder has no files in it? Would these usually be created during the initial install process?
Thanks

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I am having a similar problem. No matter what I save the number boxes as, the window for them is blank when I re-open Exp.
I adjusted the permissions to give Exp write access to the States folder but I noticed that the States folder is actually empty and there are no files in there at all (hidden or otherwise). Is it possible to download the standard ex3 files again, would that work?
I have installed the latest version of the software.
Thanks,
Nick

Nick, thanks for the reply - I hadn’t spotted that there was a conversion to NMEA 0183 first, as you say not ideal

Hello,
Has anyone had their hands on one of these yet (W2K-1)? It purports to network NMEA2K / SeaTalkNG over Wifi. My boat has a lot of legacy Raymarine gear on a STNG backbone so this might be a nice alternative to a USB / serial connection. Can Exp output to the STNG network through Wifi (i.e. Exp calculated TWA, start line and mark info)?
Many thanks,
Nick
