I'd be happy for it just to be on the list.
Technical Q&A » NGT-1 on Win11Arm with Exp » 8/04/2025 7:55 am |
Thanks - I was able to race running he x64 version of Exp to use NGT-1 for the fastnet.
However, some of the insturments weren't reporting to expedition correctly --- the most anoying was the BSP was roughly 80%.
I don't know if this was an artifact of running the x64 in an emulated environment or if it is an NGT-1 issue or an issue on our mostly B&G NMEA2k setup.

I was wondering if it would be possible to build an ensemble grouping option...
A way to run Arome, Arpege, ECMW - UM UK, UM Global, ECMWF - NAM, GFS - WRF, UM Global, ECMWF... etc...
RIght now to do this you have to run the routes manually with those models loaded. Unload, load new ones -- rerun.
I spent a lot of time during the fastnet doing this to try to figure out what the French and UK models were showing and which one was better matching the current conditions on Windicator and our instrumenets.

It seems to be a ExpArm issue. I installed the Navionics x64 build and that was able to open the com port.

I'm having trouble after an emergency upgrade to a NGT-1.
My previous USB/NMEA interface was dead when I got to the boat this morning to start race prep.
I was able to source an NGT-1. After some work I was able to get the drivers installed and get it working with Actisense tools and NMEA Reader.
However, Expeadition only shows the port as closed. I have reboot several times but nothing has worked!
HELP!
General Discussion » Virtual machine on Mac » 7/23/2025 2:51 am |
Hi (I know Nick isn't going to have an answer for this!),
How are people finding running expedition on Virtual machines on a Mac running Windows11 Arm?
I have been replacing my legacy Win10 Lenovo PCs. For on the boat I've got a Lenove WindowsOnArm machine. I'm really happy with it. However, I'd like to be able to do home desk work and analysis on MacBookPro.
I just don't want to burn an activation on my Navionics or get a license code from Nick if it isn't working well for others?
I'm not going to bother until after the fastnet but I figured |'d put this out now for people to put their more up to date thoughts.
Cheers

I'm getting a crash in 12.4.11 when I try to use grid.
It seems that the crash is when a trying to route using a grib that doesn't have enough to cover the start mark to the first mark after the start.
Iso seems unaffected.
General Discussion » Ensemble grib view broken? » 7/20/2025 1:39 pm |
Ahhh -- found it --- that has changed since the last time I spent a lot of time analysing multiple models at once!
Thanks.

When I click unsemble in the Weather menu bar I get a colour option.
However, it doesn't seem to enable and show all loaded models in the colours of the diaglog box.
Technical Q&A » Navionics or CMAP-4D on Exp 12 » 7/11/2025 6:31 am |
I like C-Map alot but I moved to Navioncs for a few reasons:
1. C-Map had a lot of problems with their webstore last time I needed to update my charts and eventually they sorted me out. I get very worried it will happen again.
2. Navioncs is support on both x64 machines and Arm machines C-Maps is not.
3. I've had problems with the 4D displaying on x64 machines -- originally it was just when running over remote desktop but it has gotten worse and exp 4d crashes when I start it. Navionics has never been so fickle.
