Questions about Expedition features » ASCAT data display / overlay » 3/18/2018 8:25 am

Nick,
I've been looking at ASCAT off the east coast of the US.  Expedition MyGrib-> NOAA OPC->ASCAT appears to be downloading ASCAT METOP A Descending pass.  Yet there are more scatterometer winds for ascending pass as well as ascending and descending from ASCAT METOP B.  I haven't look for the raw data to see how easy it is to get these in grib format.  Any plans to add these additional Scatterometer winds?  Or am I reading the data incorrectly in Expedition and it is already included?  I find the winds over the gulf stream area a valuable tool.

Nick, Navy Sailing is still using XP on ~ 6 boats w/ Toughpad tablets.  Ready to change but limited on funds to upgrade systems.  Will start experimenting with newer OS to check for compatibility issues.

Networking Issues » B&G Zues2 MFD and Polar Data » 3/15/2016 7:58 am

Hi,
I want to set up a "budget" racer/cruiser system on a 40ft Beneteau with a B&G Zeus 2 9" plotter, with N2K network to Vesper XB8000 AIS, and NMEA 0183 Wind, Speed and Depth coming from an old Raymarine ST60 set-up.  I do not want the B&G H3000/H5000 performance processors at this time.  Will eventually replace wind, speed and depth with B&G displays as needed.

Will I be able to send data from expedition to the Zeus? What instruments should I connect to in Expedition?   I am hoping there is a way for Expedition to provide polar data to the Zeus2 for layline calculations.

I'm assuming that standard sentences like waypoint info, calculated TWD and set/drift will be easy to get via connection to 0183 or vesper N2K.  But will there be a way to send polar data like layline info and targets to the Zeus as custom channels?  or does this require a performance processor?

Thanks,
Andy

Suggestions for new features and capabilities » Bridge Clearances a big help, but... » 2/10/2016 8:19 am

I noticed that I now can see bridge clearances - ie. "CLR 29.2"  This is a great feature, but when depths are in feet, the bridge clearances are still in meters.  Suggest linking them, and having a separate control in the C-Map and S-57 settings to turn them on/off.  I still can't figure out what setting the fall under. Thanks, Andy V. 10.2.16
