Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Seems your change has resolved the issue Nick.
I had 10.5.20  running all night in simulator mode without any issue!

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Thanks.
Since I wasn't able to replicate it, the problem may still be there, just might take a lot longer to repeat.

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Nick
I have/had this problem on all my pc's. It occurs on Intel and on Nvidia graphic systems. I'm using c-map 4D  charts EM-D076 and EN-D078. All my pc runs win10 pro 64bit English. Maybe this helps locating the error.

With version 10.5.20 I too can confirm that this issue is solved. Thanks Nick.

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Hi

Looks like I have the reported problem now with Expedition v11.3.5 for CMAP 4D. It has happend with earlier v11 versions as well.

If I enable autochart , Expedition will freeze at some CMAP chart boundry. The problem occurs both with live and recorded data. When i replay my track it freezes at the same position - cmap chart boundry - every time, regardless if I replay at 1Hz or at an increased speed.

Lenovo L13 with Intel Graphics, Windows 10 Pro "latest updates"
CMAP Chart is Baltic Sea And Denmark EN-D299 4D

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Unfortunately, I can't replicate that. It may be something inside C-Map specific to your charts on your computer.

Does it happen if you pan over the boundary? What happens to the CPU usage in Windows'Task Manager?

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Hi
On my PC i can reproduce it every time. In playback i set to position to 59 17.950n 0.017 54.950e, Hdg to 45, BSP to 5. Press "simulate". After about 20 seconds the UI freezes when the "boat" crosses a chart boundry.

It freezes when the boat goes from a chart area where "level G" is the most detailed level to an area where "level
E" is the most detailed chart.

The CPU usage increase to 100%.

Just dragging/panning over the area does not cause any freezing.

It freezes when auto chart and follow boat are enabled.
It does not freeze when auto chart and drag are enabled with boat visible on screen.

Same behaviour if "raster" is enabled or not.

Sadly i am unable to upload screen shoots.

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

I just ran a test with a replay of a day sailing to see if I had the same problem with "freeze" ... after about 4h expedition popped up a window "Out of memory" ... I can still see movements / updating numbers but it is super slow  (almost a freeze) ....  after clicking OK - Expedition crashed.

Contrary to all the C-map 4D users, I'm on ENC charts.

I'v been using my computer for several other programs at the same time. But I have have the following hardware

Processor Intel i9-9900K 3,6Ghz, 8 core
RAM 64GB
Graphics NVIDA GeForce RTX 2060 8Gb
Disks are SSD
Windows is 64bit

I've never seen this before "live" or in replay ...

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

I managed to replicate the C-Map 4D problem.

Expedition is now using a different method for the auto-scaling and the problem seems to be resolved.

The plan is to post a release after some more testing.

Update: Expedition 11.3.6 posted.

Re: User Interface freezes in 'Follow Boat' mode

Hi again

Downloaded and tried 11.3.6. Problem with freeze seems to be fixed, boat sails past problematic chart boundry without problem!

Thanks a lot Nick for the quick fix.
