I navigate and find it helpful to plot data and visualize trends over time. Most boat monitor displays have limited pixel real estate. I was thinking it would be neat to be able to organize multiple strip charts into windowed 'tabs' similar to a web browser. Personally I would organize tabs by themes and then I could cycle between these for study.
To keep comparison time periods equal, setting wands on the active tab window would also set them for the inactive tabs. All functions in the toolbar of the application would apply to all tabs when pressed, so for example changing the display time would reflect on all the tabs.
I imagine a setup of tabs like:
"Environment" (TWS, TWD, TWA, Baro, Air temp, Water temp)
"Navigation" (Hdg, MkBrg, dMkBrgCog, VMC, OppTrack, VmcOptTwa)
"Performance" (TWS, BSP, TgtBsp, PolBsp, TWA, TargTwa)
"Calibration" (TWS, TWD, TWA, AWA, HDG, COG, BSP, SOG)
In this way one could use a single running strip chart application for more sources/charts than are actively displayed for readability sake.
Cheers,
