Expedition Events without a true serial port?

To my knowledge, as HLink doesn't carry the starting line stuff I could use  "expedition events" to allow for remote pings, timer starts etc.

question is does that work through a serial 9 to USB to USB-C adapter chain ?

Alternatively, can probably fudge up an Arduino to send text strings per "expedition protocol" and work on navico to reveal nmea 2000 pgn

Use Ventus or write your own for the triggers over IP network and send the data back into H5000 via the remote channels. This I have found to be simplest way.

Re: Expedition Events without a true serial port?

Paul,
I was envisioning some wiring that would be within my skill set, writing "triggers" would be somewhat past it. I've forgotten PERL 3x, and the only language I am partly passable in currently is Skil or Tcl on Linux.

Willing to go with Ventus, especially as we are usually short of crew, the Zeus keys are not close to helm and laptop stays below.
