Connecting Expedition to a new B&G Zeus3 via WiFi

Hi, I am new to Expedition and I am trying to connect it to a new B&G Zeus3 chart plotter via Wifi. I can get the WiFi connection between the PC and the Zeus3 set up fine. However, I dont seem to be setting Expedition up right, and I am not getting any data into the program. Does anyone have a detailed set of instructions for how to set up the Wifi connection between a Zeus3 and Expedition?

Thanks.

Can you see data in the raw data window in Exp for that port?

Did you set the wifi connection to nmea0183 in Expedition? Also the port for nmea0183 must be set to 10110.

That sounds as if Expedition isn't receiving any data.

To ensure that I do this right: Instrument should be set to NMEA 0183. Connection should be set to UDP. Address should be set to 192.168.1.255. Port should be set to 10110. Correct?

Are you sure about the IP? Check in the Zeus what range is used.

From the Manual:Expedition can also use B&G's GoFree wireless interface to receive basic NMEA 0183 and AIS data. Note that this does not give the full HLink functionality.Log on to the B&G on board GoFree wifi from the laptopIn Expedition instruments

Select Network 0

Select NMEA 0183 as the instrument type

Select TCP Client

Input your B&G Zeus 2 plotter IP address (as this unit supplies the NMEA data which it gets from the CPU). The IP address will be different for each plotter, but you can find it in the Network Settings pages.

Select Port 10110

Select “Reconnect”
Re: Connecting Expedition to a new B&G Zeus3 via WiFi

Thanks to everybody who have been helping with this.

I still cant figure out what I am doing wrong. A problem I am having is that B&G seems to have discontinued the GoFree WiFi connection. It does not show up as a WiFi connection option. The only thing that shows up from the Zeus3 is an SSID. It shows up as “Zeus37c59”. I can get the laptop to connect to that. The IP hotspot address in the Zeus3 Network Info list is 192.168.76.1. Then when I try to get Expedition to read NMEA data with the suggested connections (NMEA 0183, TCP client, 192.168.76.1, 10110), Expedition is still not getting any data, and I also don’t see any raw NMEA data.

I don’t know if it matters, but the boat does not have any physical NMEA 0183 network. The whole setup is NMEA2000. We also do not have the B&G WiFi module (SKU 000-11068-001). The hope is that we can connect directly to the Zeus3 and pull the NMEA data to Expedition that way.

Does it say Open or Closed at the top of the Expedition connection page?

Of course, the other option is to get something like this
