Aha - i think I understand

- not use the usb Connection out of h3000
- use the serial rs232 out of h3000 instead
- to allow for this I will have to “adjust the jumper to use usb or rs232” - where currently I am at usb and have to follow page 179/180 in the user manual to get the rs232 “activated”
- then new rs232 to usb adaptor cable out of the h3000 rs232 into my computer usb  - solving the compability to 64 bits computer inside this product
- and added by myself: (maybe I need a driver for the cable - explained from the cable supplier).

Nais!
Thank you as always

Questions about Expedition features » Current effect on forecast GWD for TWD when calcuating optimal route » 3/15/2021 6:47 am

hei there
I tried to search for this in the forum, but couldn't find.
As I see it,
- the wind forecasts deliver GROUND WIND (GWS, GWD).
- This wind forecast is input into the optimal route calculations.

When adding current/tide into the optimal route calculations, does the algorithms then add the effect the current/tide has on the TWD/TWS? so that the for example the TWA given in the optimal route results, is based on GW+CURRENT? Or is the current only included as an effect on SOG and COURSE?

was this clear??

Does expedition look up civil twilight in a table kind of, for position and time, or is this contained in the forecast input.
is this in all forecasts?

in short, my question is "what is the source for civil twilight"

Hi
once and for all, i will now try to connect Expedition successfully to raymarine instruments; there are loads of boats with raymarine instruments up here in Norway, and i have to be able to connect sooner or later. 4 years of failing has to come to an end.

i have scrolled through your excellent forum to find answer to my question, but i find nothing that helps me solve this exactly.

the current victim is a boat with quite new instruments, so i assumed this should be a good starting point. i have raymarine instruments all the way
- i70 displays
- axiom pro 9s plotter
- seatlak - stng converter
- raymarine iTC5 converter
- acu-200 autopilot

so i plugged myself into the white seatalk NG plug in the rack with my newly acquired actisense NGT-1.
in expedition connections, i used the actisense-ngt-1 menu choice. (should i use something else?)
i got some signals, compass and gps, but no wind data. raw data window said wind data was sent.
notes:
- the baudrate set in expedition connection was different from the one dafault in the ngt-1 device manager. i tried to change to make them identical, both ways, didn't help.
- there were several racks with connectors, tried several, but there should be no difference? white connector is good.... no wiring diagram. looking at my pictures, i see i have a free white connection at the iTC5 converter...
 - latest driver installed "the device is working properly"

pictures in dropbox; https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j9yww59e9as6vs5/AAA17RkV9AqFuTYNR7fz8awfa?dl=0

so my question is; how do i solve this? possible? or not possible at all?

i will post the same question at the raymarine forum by the way.

best regards

Yes, a faulty sensor is seriously going on. But i’m not getting a new sensor now, hence the question to «calibrate» against it with different awa correction at DW target angles

I’ll live with it as it is for now

Hi

In the expedition calib, is it possible to:
- AWA calib
- enter both negative and postitive values for the AwA to correct (not talking about the calib value)

All this to calibrate for a shift in AWA DOWNWIND ONLY, so want to calibrate awa differently from tack to downwind..

MHU rotation is not the issue, symmetrical upwind.

Aha
Thank you

I was hoping it was the sum of the MHU phases as I have some MHU angle issues, but plotting the HPE soon indicated otherwise..
But now I know what HPE is at least
