Sorry to be slow to reply - the update notifications didn't get through a spam filter, and it's been a bit of a week so I'd not looked here. Will test the update now.

Hi,

I updated to 11.19.3 and Exp hung when opening the Marks folder window. After trying a few things (new marks file etc) I gave up, uninstalled and reverted to 11.18.0 (which I had to hand) and all is well again, using the original database. Is this a known problem?

The author of NMEARemote assured me that he was working on an iWatch version recently. that might be worth a look, as the iPap/Phone app integrates nicely with Expedition.

I'm using an Armor-X case for my iPad. I haven't been underwater with it yet but it's had to deal with a fair amount of rain etc and seems to be working fine after its first season.

Thanks. Looks like the armor-X will do the job. Appreciated. The cockpits on old Swans are meant to stay dry but…

I just had to replace my old 12.9" gen2 iPad as the screen died (old age related). Sadly my favoured Lifeproof Nuud case is no longer made - they were great as they were waterproof, but left the screen exposed. What are people using on iPads for use on deck now? The new iPad pro has a very bright display (1600 nits peak) so should be good in sunlight, but I've yet to test it afloat.

Thanks for the advice,

Tom

My main boat computer in Windows, but in the past I have used VMWare on an intel mac to run Exp on board. I had full instrument integration with a usb/serial adapter connected to my H2000 Performance Processor and an Actisense USB gateway for my N2K traffic.

No direct experience but I used to use VMWare very successfully with serial HLink coms and USB Actisense N2K adapter.

I've permanently wired in a dc-dc converter delivering a suitable voltage. It works well.

In one interview I read this morning Frank Cammas is reported to have wondered if the use of different routing software was the cause of the French boats heading for the French coast (Apivia led the IMOCAs and made quite a lay line call somewhere south west of Jersey) whilst the British boats stuck to the UK coast. Might this be a Adrena vs Expedition question, or is it more likely driven (my hunch) by the short handed IMOCA crews optimising for long legs, and thinking they could get a tidal gain in the Alderney race?
