Pharos 360 gps connectivity

Hello.  We are having trouble connecting the above gps to expedition. We see the device on the instruments list but it is indicated as closed and expedition says it has no position data. Any ideas?

One of these?

What did you select as the instrument type and baud rate?

Re: Pharos 360 gps connectivity

Yes.  We have used 9600 as the baud rate and nmea0183 as the instrument type

Thanks

Re: Pharos 360 gps connectivity

I would suggest looking at the raw data window in Exp.

The normal NMEA 0183 baud rate is 4800, but the device may differ.

The closed indicator is also odd. Does something else have the port open?

Re: Pharos 360 gps connectivity

Thanks Nick. Device seems to suggest 9600 but also tried 4800 with same result.  Not aware of any other device using that port.  We think it might be related to the driver as Windows gives us an unsigned driver message

Re: Pharos 360 gps connectivity

That might be it if Exp can't open the port. Occasionally a source like this gets detected by Windows as a serial mouse (see the appendix in the Exp help).
