Laylines

I've noticed that when one of the Number Box channels says its time to tack, the boat icon isn't quite at the laying 'line' on the chart display.

Is this due to damping?  Which is most accurate? The TmOnPt / TmOn Sbd boxes or the chart layline lines?

Re: Laylines

The laylines are dependent on other channels and their damping so it might be worth the effort playing around with system damping for TWS, TWD, BSP, TWA, Current, heading, leeway (in Settings-Channels).
Maybe your system dampings are too low and as a result the layline are very jumpy which make them differ from the number boxes at certain times?

Also if you have set a very high damping for the number boxes their value may lack behind by the data shown for te laylines in the map.

Re: Laylines

Surely a representation of the same data?

Re: Laylines

Do you have 'Use ROT in laylines' selected? It should be off by default.

Re: Laylines

since switching to Ver 11 with C-Map 4D I miss several data or display options: no laylines, no wind arrow on own ship, some number box data such as NxtMrkTWA, NxtMrkPolTm (next Mark Brg/Rng is indicated), and MrkTm. Wind data, seawater temp, depth are all fine and come from Nexus NX2 NMEA, position, SOG/COG, and AIS come from AIS instrument. Mark Brg/Rng, XTE are transmitted well to the instruments. Polars are in the system under Nav and Perf tab.
Do I miss any important setting ? Appreciate your help.

Re: Laylines

Do you have twd & tws? A polar loaded?

Re: Laylines

TWD and TWS are coming from the Nexus system and are displayed in the number boxes.
Polars under Nav and Perf tab loaded.

Re: Laylines

Something will be missing. You at a minimum twd, tws & position for boat zero and an active mark. Also the polars obviously.

For the wind drawn on the boat, do you have selected that option in display settings.
