Interfacing Expedition to a Garmin handheld GPS?

I am new to Expedition and doing a lot of learning at the moment...but is it possible to interface Expedition to a Garmin handheld GPS thru a USB port/connection?  I'd like to use my Montana GPS from Garmin and BlueChart charts...I know Expedition will interface to more sophisticated chart plotters and equipment, I am just curious how it is done for something more hand held.  All the best,  CAF

Re: Interfacing Expedition to a Garmin handheld GPS?

It varies a little for each Garmin device and some you can change.
For USB connections Exp supports (Garmin2Exp) the native USB interface for devices such as the 18x USB and most Garmin handhelds. Some Garmin'devices though will appear as a serial port to Exp, in which case you don't use Garmin2Exp, but select NMEA 0183 as the instrument type in Exp. Some handhelds and devices such as the AIS3000 are like this. Exp also supports NMEA 2000 via the NGT-1 adaptor.

No Bluechart support. These are proprietary Garmin only
