NKE Box N2K

There was a post from 2016 about Expedition sending data to the NKE WiFi Box.  I am having a similar problem with the NKE Box N2K.

I have the USB from the N2K box hooked to my Nav computer.  Expedition sees the COM port, and when I set the baud rate at 115,200 it generates the raw data.  BUT it only shows PNKEP 05, plus a bunch of standard NEMA 0183 sentences. I can not see the Target BSP, etc that the manual says it outputs.  The 2016 post said these were sent automatically for NKE.

I also went into the custom settings and set Targ Bsp as Custom O and targ TWA as custom 1 - still didnt see these in the raw data file.

When I go into the NKE multigraphic - the only custom data sources it shows are current speed and current direction. - I do not have those selected as outputs anywhere I can see in Expedition.  The NKE Toplink software also shows current speed and direction as the only 2 KEP data streams.

I also tried using the NMEA connections from the Box N2K via an Actisense USG-2 at 38,400 baud - same issue - it would not show the targets that Expedition is meant to automatically send to the NKE instruments.

The lights on the Box N2K are showing data being transferred on both the USB and NEMA channels.

Am I missing something??

Re: NKE Box N2K

PNKEP,1 has bsp and target bsp
PNKEP,2 has opposite track
PNKEP,3 has target twa, vmg% and bsp%
PNKEP,5 has set and drift

Re: NKE Box N2K

Thanks - but all I am seeing when I view the raw data is the KEP05 channel.

The NKE shows it is getting the current and drift from KEP05 - but none of the other performance data fields are there.

Am I missing something?  The fact that the KEP05 is showing on the raw data in expedition and it is showing up as a data field on the multi graphic, and is showing up in the Toplink software when I look at the data going into the NKE Box N2K seems to show that I don’t have a communication problem.  It just looks like I am missing something in Expedition.

I have the com port set at NKE and 115,200 baud as I am using the USB.  I know I cant run Toplink and expedition at the same time off the same USB - so I shut down the NKE and restart it after using Toplink so the USB talks to Expedition - confirm by seeing data in the Raw data screen.

Re: NKE Box N2K

Do you have a polar loaded?

Can you see (eg) polar bsp% in a number box?

Re: NKE Box N2K

Thanks - got everything to work.  I had a polar - but I needed to assign a perf polar - then i got the number boxes displaying and everything came up on the NKE displays
