Set and Drift as parameters in Simulator

In addition to TWD, TWS and HDG,  make Set and Drift an input value for the Expedition simulator mode.

Re: Set and Drift as parameters in Simulator

I played with this a little and I think this could be a good tool to get a “feel” of tidal areas.
When you fill in set and drift , the current does have an effect on the boat in simulation mode, but you cannot see anything in the numbers boxes.
Heading is still the same as COG and Bsp is the same as SOG.
It would be great if the tidal effect is actually translated into the numbers as well.
Is this something you are still working on?

Thanks

Re: Set and Drift as parameters in Simulator

I agree mitchell14
To get a full understanding of the tidal effect I therefore also suggested that instead of TWS/TWD it should be GWS/GWD that you enter as parameters in the simulator.  Then TWS/TWD should be calculated taking the influence of current into account.

Re: Set and Drift as parameters in Simulator

Ground wind or true wind options in the simulator for the next update. I think you have the beta zz?

Re: Set and Drift as parameters in Simulator

Nick, there is no hyperlink on the 10.9.18.1 beta download.
Once available I will test it.
